Choosing a white desk set

Every set above is faux leather, which is man-made and not genuine leather. Choosing white office desk accessories as a set then comes down to the shade of white, the number of pieces and the nameplate.

White or off-white: the finish on each family

  • Luna: smooth white on the Luna 4, Luna 9 and single-tray Luna 10; smooth off-white on the Luna 5, Luna 8 and two-tier-tray Luna 10. Most have tonal stitching.
  • Vega: white with light gray tonal stitching.
  • Star: smooth white with brown trim on the bases; the Star 11 with a single tray is off-white with beige-lined interiors.
  • Venus: white with a fine grain and tonal stitching.

Pens or fittings are gold-tone on several sets, such as the Luna 9, Vega 12 and Star 14. Luna and Star have velvet-lined storage interiors; Vega and Venus are lined with faux leather.

Four to nine pieces is a compact desk set; ten or more is a white executive desk set. The executive desk sets page has that size in every color. In white, the larger pad comes with Star, so measure your desk before choosing one.

What comes in the sets

The Luna 4 is a white desk accessories set of four: desk pad, pen cup, memo holder and coaster. The Vega 4 has a phone stand in place of the coaster. A white desk organizer set for paperwork needs a document tray, which comes with the Luna 10, Star 11 and Star 14. Every Star set adds a picture frame and a calendar holder, and the Star 14 a desk clock and a tissue holder. Venus sets include a matching mouse pad, and the Venus 13 and 14 add one or two desk flags; you type which flag you would like. Paper, calendar sheets and clock batteries are not included.

White sets with a nameplate

Every executive set in white, plus the compact Luna 8 and 9, comes with a personalized nameplate. The name and an optional title are printed, not engraved, on a metal plate in gold or silver. The color guide puts white in its silver group, where silver keeps the look cool and modern; as a general rule, gold warms a color. The nameplate guide covers character limits, wording and fonts; every color is under personalized nameplate sets.

White in a bright room

White is crisp and modern and suits bright rooms, white desks and light wood; our home office guide adds pale walls. On a white desk a white set blends in and the desk looks less busy; on a black desk it is one of the bolder choices in our desk set color guide, which shows how to judge a color against your desk, floor and walls. For color on a white desk, the guide's bolder choices include pink and orange: pink desk sets and orange desk sets come in the same sizes as the white Luna sets.

Keeping a white set clean

Pale surfaces make ink, dust and everyday marks easier to see than dark ones, so white suits a desk that is kept tidy. Wipe light marks with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then dry, and keep abrasive pads, sharp tools and excess moisture away. The materials and care page has the full notes. If marks concern you but you still want a lighter look, gray desk sets are a middle ground.

Cream, beige and other families

Cream and beige are separate colors, softer and warmer than white: cream comes on the Galaxy sets and beige on the Cloud 10-piece set. To see them, use the color filter on all desk sets. For a family that does not come in white, start with black desk sets.
